Yes I agree and could be worth following up particularly for JAK2 negative ETs.

there was a similar article in The Guardian (which isn't behind a pay wall) theguardian.com/science/201.... There is also a link in that article to the abstract of the original paper. I think the important thing to remember is that this isn't a causal link - so they are not at this stage saying that high platelets cause cancer- they are saying that it can be a sign of cancer. The thing i hold on to is that for patients like myself with ET our life expectancy doesn't seem to significantly differ - which would suggest that there isn't a causal relationship...

Thanks, I have done and found it.

Wasn't sure whether they were referring to general thrombocytosis or Essential Thrombocytosis as I understood that it isn't known what causes ET - hence it being entitled 'Essential'.
