Mother of all colds

Hi..I have come down hard & fast (6ish hours) with the worst cold and feel it's the worst I've had. I had my venesection 10days ago and just wondering is there any correlation in that maybe my system is low so it takes hold more aggressively? Or is it just a super nasty bug. Curious. Xx

That's strange! I've been having venesections for 11 years and never really taken much notice but I had a venesection 4 weeks ago and am just getting over a cold that lasted 3 weeks! I've always shied away from blaming everything on my PV but maybe I'll take more notice next time I have a venesection.

Hi, I think there is a connection as 2 years ago the clinic nurse took off a pint of blood when she shouldn't have so I ended up with bad anaemia and took bug after bug plus had to get 2 weeks of iron.

Don't laugh I take my drink of Ribena every day for vitamin c and that helps normally and I'm usually the "healthier" family member (which is a bit ironic) but on that occasion even my ribena didn't help!

Hi cwayman, I sympathise , there have been beastie colds out there this winter. Mine took weeks to get rid of . I have ET so can't help re venesection .But our rather compromised immune systems do make us open to these bugs. Just as Amie says ' be kind to yourself ' keep warm when you go out.

' just a cold ' does not cover this nasty. Hope you shake it off soon.

Yes it's a nasty virus around this winter I had it end of December and was out of it for 10 days and it took til end of January to get rid of it - but to be honest various friends who are fit and healthy had it too and were rough - think with MPN you just tend to get a rough dose of these more virulent viruses as our poor immense systems are a tad battered on treatment etc! Hope you feel easier soon go careful we'll dosed up and rest rest til you are really past it.
