Pv?

I'm being referred for pv following a previous hct of 65. I picked these latest results up this afternoon. I'm confused as to how it's gone down to 49 (I think!)

Hi

Blood counts can be hard to read but i would say from your results they are slightly high. If they were .65 before then maybe its a case of monitoring you before diagnosis is confirmed.

a drop of .65 to .49 is a large one, have you had some sort of viral infection or anything like that?

No I've been fine. Except for headaches.

looks like your platelets whites and reds are all slightly high: I can't see anything I recognise as HCT (probably my ignorance - all these lab results are presented slightly differently). In its early stages my PV had wildly oscillating HCT, seemed to be linked to how high my red cells were which seemed to be linked to how much iron I ate! At a later stage my white cell levels seemed to be the driver of high HCT, but I could never work out what caused this.....good luck

Hi

Packed cell volume is Hct. As you say they don't make them easy.

Hi Emerald,

If you are not happy with explanations of results, phone up your GP or haematology clinic and ask, otherwise you will worry about it. It's good if the counts are better but still phone and ask. Kind regards Aime xx😺😺
