Hi Barryb458, this is a question you need to ask your GP as with any medication, it has been prescribed taking into account many factors concerning your overall health and any conditions and other medication you are taking, risk factors will be assessed when prescribing, therefore, if you are concerned about taking this medication you need to discuss it with your doctor. Hi

I was on Clexane for over two half years . Have PV and have had 2 pulmonary embolism and 4 DVT over a period of 6 years. It all started when I was 50 .

I was identified as being resistant to Warfarin ,hence the years of Clexane .

I developed problems with weakening of my lumbar vertebrae (bottom of my Back) after two + years on Clexane. It can cause Osteoporosis in some people ?

I am now been on Rivaroxaban for 20 months and have had no further blood clots or any other problems .

Up to now Rivaroxaban been fine for me instead of Clexane for life --certainly do not miss the daily injection and the bruising .

Have a talk to you Doctor, everyone is different and the drugs effect them in different ways .

Good luck
