Having read all the info on here regarding fre prescriptions I asked at our usual chemist they told me we could not get exemption as we have private prescriptions as my husband is treated privately. Is this correct?

As long as you getting prescriptions on a green NHS form, an FP10, then you should be able to get an exemption card so you can have free prescriptions. If the drugs are prescribed privately or you don't have the exemption card then you have to pay. If you are in the process of getting an exemption card then ask fora receipt and you can claim back the charges when you receive it.

Hello

I see my haematologist privately, but right from the outset he wrote to my GP to ask her to prescribe my drugs. So now I have a Medical Exemption card and am able to collect my prescriptions from my local chemist without paying for them.
