Myeloproliferative diseases in humans can result in several illnesses caused by overproduction of myeloid cells, which are normally are used to fight infections. These diseases can put patients at risk for heart attack or stroke, and frequently progress into acute leukemia and bone marrow failure, which have fatal outcomes. Unfortunately, there are no effective therapies for the majority of myeloproliferative diseases. -
Why use the out of date name Myeloproliferative Disorders instead of the W.H.O correct name Myeloproliferative Neoplasm? Would you expect your work to be recognised if you researched Tuberculosis and wrote it up as Consumption?

This sounds like an exciting discovery. Maybe this will ultimately lead to reversal of MPNs. If it applied to other more common neoplasms maybe it would be a front page splash in the press. Education, education....good to hear that research is quietly going on to get on top of the many enigmas associated with our MPNs.
