Aura for 7 days straight post attack... Anyone else had this? (Was on Combined pill for 7 days prior to to attack).

I was on Levest combined contraceptive pill for 7 days before having a huge migraine which led to me visiting A and E - I went numb down one side of my body and it scared the hell out of me, as I've never had this sensation before.

Anyway, they did some neurological tests (by prodding my face and getting me to push my limbs around, no scans) and took some blood samples and everything appeared fine...

However, I've had a mild aura for the past seven days straight post attack. It never develops into a full blown aura and migraine, but I feel sick and uneasy - the top of my head feels numb like I'm about to go under, but it never happens.

Has anyone else experienced an persistent aura? One that lasted for more than three days?

Hi, I've suffered from migraine with aura for over 20 years and they started when I took the combined pill. I am not allowed to take any contraceptive that contains eastrogen ( sorry bout spelling!) I think you need to stop your pill and swap to a progesterone only pill, your dr should know this already so you need to speak to them. I has exactly the same reaction as you with the combined pill I had my first horrific migraine with numbness down one side of my body including my face and tongue.dont be alarmed Or panic but I,m sure you should stop taking the combined pill and see your dr for an alternative as soon as you can.

This sounds terrible.

Stop taking the contraceptives and consider seeing a migraine specialist at the National Migraine Centre. They will be able to advise you on what contraception is safe to use with your migraines.

My migraines are very odd. They start with an aura that develops and lasts for about half an hour. If I'm driving I have to put over. I rarely get a painful headache but I'm left with a bad hangover for days even upto a week where I have a heavy head, feel sick or queasy, fuzzy and cant focus on anything. I also feel extremity tired. It reminds me of a dreadful self inflicted hangover but I don't drink anymore as am frightened constantly of an attack. It's hard to work or function feeling like this. When I have two or three a month it takes over my life.
