I have suffered vertigo for some time now, not in small bouts, but all the time, does anyone else have this?

I am feeling so ill, my vision is terrible and judgement is just dangerous, dizzyness coupled with wanting to use the loo, then really violent vomiting, then passing out. I have never felt so ill in my entire life.

That sounds horrible. I read your blog about being taken to A&E - very scarey for you. I'm assuming you've been diagnosed properly with migraine. There are lots of reasons why people get dizzy & throw up.

Frequent (though not constant) nausea & dizziness was the reason I went to a doctor & eventually ended up being diagnosed with migraine. I get it sometimes without a headache. I've had it this weekend, woke a couple of nights ago & felt like I'd had a lot to drink (I hadn't had anything!) Have never passed out but have come quite close a few times. I am good at managing the headaches now but the dizzy spells come without warning. Have decided to start keeping another diary - it might give me some clues. I did try some medication to stop the diziness a few years ago but it made me drowsy so wasn't worth taking!

Sounds like you need to go back to the doctors & get checked out again / try out some different medications and try to keep a diary to see what's setting this off.

Take care, hope you feel better soon.

Hi, I've never had vertigo formally diagnosed but my mum had it and I remember how sick and faint she used to feel and could sometimes see her swaying. Then from being in late teens I had migraine headaches for 20 years so maybe they are related via a genetic predisposition. Paracetemol, etc made the headaches so much worse that I would vomit, but then they got so bad that I'd repeatedly bang my head against the wall in order to try to ease the pain. Unsuprisingly that didn't actually help! One day all my headaches stopped completely at a particular point during psychotherapy and I've never had a headache since. I'm not suggesting you need therapy as there are physical and psychological causes of migraine, but extreme stress undoubtedly played a part in mine. If straightforward classic migraine meds from the GP don't help I'd get referred to a neurologist to find whether there's a physical problem and maybe also see a counsellor if there are stresses in your life that you feel you may need help with - a two pronged approach to the symptoms. Hope that helps and good luck.

Hi there

I just replied to your other post...yes, I have had constant, varying degrees of vertigo for years with severe bouts thrown in.

Ask for a referral to a 'neuro-otologist' - they are balance specialists.
