i havent but would try it altho i am doubtful as to whether the nhs will fund this expensive treatments with all the cutbacks they are making.
has anyone tied botox and if you have... - National Migraine...
has anyone tied botox and if you havent would you try it??
I'm considering it and my medical insurance has agreed to fund 1 treatment. But as I said in the blogs section I'm not rushing in to anything as I doubt it will be a miracle cure and could make things worse short term.
I'm seeing my doctor this morning to discuss it.
I tried Botox injections at the London Migraine Surgery Centre (migrainesurgery.co.uk ) where a German professor of plastic surgery injects the corrugator muscles (over the eyebrows) to see if relieving the pressure they put on the nerves in the forehead reduce the migraine. If successful, he recommends removal of the corrugator muscles.
For me, it didn't work.
I think the NJS treatment is more extensive, many more injections being given around the head. I hope to know more later and also whether or not my doctor thinks the treatment will be avaiable fre on the NHS soon or not.
Yes, I tried it about four months ago and it is just wearing off. I have found it great. I have had chronic migraine for over 30 years and use triptans when I have an attack. The botox seems to have reduced the severity and frequency . I am frightened to sound too confident in case it stops working I will go back again in the next couple of weeks and keep you posted!
I had the operation for migraine mentioned by the surveyor above. It has reduced my migraine by 50 percent. I am going back to have back of my neck botoxed to see if his helps with the remainder. I would def recommend botox i had no side effects and reduced migraine with no tablets. If you would like details of operation visit migrainesurgery.co.uk
It is not a miracle drug but Botox certainly helps me.
Botox is not available currently available on the NHS at all however in the last week NICE has approved botox guardian.co.uk/society/2012... but it could be a long while before it is implemented by the NHS if at all. As it is so expensive I expect it will only be used in really extreme cases of chronic migraine.
National Migraine Centre offers the procedure and has had some great results so it may be worth discussing with one of our doctors. If botox is not for you there may be other beneficial treatments, such as a nerve block injection. Call 0207 251 3322 to speak to our reception team about it.
Any side effects with Botox please. I don't need more headaches
Thanks
