I have suffered for 15years with migraine which is chronic now. I am due to have Botox injections into my head, I think 34 of them.. I am quite scared about having the treatment and apprehensive but I have read that it is quite successful for a lot of people.
Is there anyone who has had this treatment and would you recommend it?
Thanks in advance for any comments.

I have had Botox for years, with a couple years break to try the CGRP. My migraines have been chronic for over 30 years now.I like Botox because unlike most of the other migraine treatment it's simpler. We think the CGRP may have damaged my bladder and in the second year didn't work that well anyway.
I just had another round of Botox last week. I find it doesn't dent the frequency that much but it really does lesson the severity. But it's all up and down, some rounds work better than others same with any drug. I've had 6 rounds in a row this time because I'm just having so many but at least I'm not worried about what it's doing to my insides, it wears off in a couple of months anyway.
As with most migraine treatments it can make you worse before it makes you better, I had problems with neck pain at first so they spread the injections out more in that area and it's never been a problem since.
For me the biggest problem with Botox is it doesn't "cure" me, but it does make face look younger and it does help with the pain 😁.
I had 2 rounds of Botox and it didn't work for me but I didn't find it painful. It's juts an odd sensation and though it's a lot of injections it is done very quickly. So don't worry about having it done. I hope it works for you.
I have chronic migraines too and have had two rounds of Botox. It didn’t work for me. The sting of the injections doesn’t last long and I had some neck pain after the first dose I had so the injections were placed differently the second time which helped. Good luck, hope it helps you
Hi. I’ve been getting 30 or more botox shots in my head and shoulders every 3 months for years. I will be honest with you, the shots do sting/hurt for a second as she does each injection but it’s tolerable. My migraine specialist goes quickly and I’m happy about that because the entire process takes about 10 minutes. Afterwards, you may have a little soreness at the injection sites. You also can’t rub your forehead or lie down for a little while to ensure that the botox stays in place.
I've been getting Botox injections for the past 6 years for chronic migraines. it is uncomfortable, but not awful, depending on the person doing the injections. My migraines have reduced significantly , both in frequency and intensity. This took a few years before I noticed any results. The best part of this treatment is that I don't have any of those horrible side effects that I had with medications. Good luck! Hope that you find something that helps you.
Yes 3 years I had it . As the lady before said intensity is less but same amount . And Ireally didnt like the tightness either . My eyes felt like I had been sobbing all the time. I to had cgrp and Nice decided to not funs it after ayear as it did not reduce my migraines But for me the bonus was I was less sensitive to Washing powder smells and Vape . I could actually leave the house without being affected for a year which was Bloody brilliant having a life again. I hope to try the version in pills when available xI hope it does help you . Anything is worth a try isnt it x
Hello! I am currently receiving Botox. The first two treatments I noticed a big reduction in the frequency and severity of my migraines, however the 3rd was not so successful. My neurologist said this can happen so I am due to receive my 4th round in June!
The nurse who administers it for me is super rough and shows no care, so I hope your experience is better than mine! I do find that it stings a little but this doesn’t tend to last very long
Hi AMG26. Thanks for your reply. I had my first injections, 31 in total. I have had migraines and headaches for 28 of the 30 since, unfortunately, so I'm feeling quite upset they don't seem to have helped yet .. however my nurse told me it could take 2 to 4 weeks to kick in so I'm still hopeful! She was brilliant, lucky for me compared to yours and was very quick and efficient. My next ones are due on July and then a review in October so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some relief. The length of time with each migraine does seem to have shortened though. I seem to wake up in the middle of the might or as soon as I wake up, how are yours affecting you now? I do hope it works well again for you next time . Reading always
