Hi I'm 64 and had migraine since I was 30,I thought there was only me in my older years, still suffering. I have amitriptyline, propanolol, cocodamol, triptans and just recently, Aimovig injections. I'm still looking for the miracle cure, I'm now under the hospitals neurologist so hoping for more help.

Hi lovely, recently after 63yrs of suffering with migtaines i saw a neurologist at Walton Center Lpool. He offered a varirty of treatments propranol, amytriptline but they will conflict with other meds i take so ruled out. He also offered botox or injection in forehead but he referred me for ct intracranial angiogram first before i decide treatment i want. Depending on results im going to opt for botox or imjectiom in fofehead. Surprise to me: he told me migraine with aura is actually classed as neurological disease which affects entire body, carotid artery etc....light bulbs lit up in my head when he told me this. I have several heart probs, worse one, very symtomatic afib which involves carotid artery going ballistic in head, neck, aorta etc. After afib attack, which happen quite frequently now, pain in head is horrific, lasts for days. Aimovig you mentioed most probably is the injection in forehead he offered as a treatment. Not sure to go for that one or botox.Sincere thank you.

Have a lovely day

Hi, I was offered botox but was a bit reluctant, as I read it can cause permanent droop of your face. The Aimovig injection is new, it's given like a pen which you punch into your stomach or leg. (It doesn't hurt). So far I've had 3 and seen a slight improvement but hoping in future, they will help more. I have problems with my neck and back so that doesn't help, as it can trigger a migrane. Hope you get relief from whichever you chose to try. I'm under Sheffield neurologist. Good luck and keep posting if you find anything that helps. Take care

Hey i a patient of Dr Steven Hunter for afib treatment at Sheffield Hospital. Ohhh don't relish the idea of dropping face..! I also have problem with neck...vertabra trapping a nerve...have suspected it triggers migraine attacks. Will mention this to neurologist at mext appointment.

Many thanks..bless you.

When I wake in the mornings, I often get the pain in the back of my neck, before the pain spreads to my head. I've tried various pillows, even sleeping flat, but no different. I have tried taking 2 ibuprofen tablets before going to sleep, but doctor says, they shouldn't be taken regularly as you can then get medication overuse, causing rebound headaches. 😕

Afterthough! Neuro, did not mention injection pen. He mentioned injections in right side of forehead! Pen could be another option!!!

I have chronic migraine and am under a neurologist. There are so many treatments available now from drugs for other things like depression, epilepsy and high blood pressure to medications specifically for migraine like the CGRP injections and Botox. Definitely worth trying to find a preventative medication that could work for you. I have worked through the list now only have Botox left to try and I’m on a very long waiting list. Not sure what’s left for me to try now. 🤞You find something that works for you.

There is also a tens machine for migraine available at Lloyds pharmacy may be worth a try,

I am the same age as you but I have only suffered since I was 40 and I don't have aura. As other people have said there are so many treatments available now. The only thing that really helped me was the new specific treatment for migraine which was one of the CRGP injections - in my case Aimovig. But the thing which has given me my life back is the Tens machine which is called Tens Mynd. It's not a cure but the difference it has made to my life is extraordinary.

I off you buy tens machine asap. Had one years ago...didnt use it for migraine though, but for symptoms else where in body, which i now know were related to migraine. Neurologist, recently told me that migraine is classed as neurological disease which affe ts almost every part of the body via the carotid artery. I was literally blown away when he told me this...connected dots to lots of other symptoms connected to carotid artery and vascular system.

Thank you...have a rewarding day lovely.
