Migraine suddenly feeling worse

Hi, I have suffered with headaches since early teens, now 29. The last 3 or 4 years i could count my migraines each year on my hands, they felt like months inbetween. I have been fairly ill the last 2 to 3 years with my asthma and chronic chest infections and in the last year tmj. But this year seems to be the worst, im lucky if i get a week or 2 inbetween. Last week on holiday, elsewhere in the uk, i started getting severe neck pain, a migraine with aura which last 4 and a bit days and since it started wooshing in my left ear like i can hear my heart beat. Its been a couple days since it improved but my ear is still playing up, i still have a neck ache and a headache. Im not sure whether to mention to the gp or not. My gp is not in my good books at the moment after an altercation at my last appointment 2 weeks ago. So not inclined to go back to talk to them, but didnt know if it its a concern. I take solpadines, sumitriptan, anti nausea tablets and I am on amatryptiline. I take lots of other medication for asthma too. I had covid in January, dont know if it makes a difference and I did my blood pressure as a check and it is slightly up. Thank you if you got through the post, not sure if i should be concerned or not.

You sound very run down abd the stress of it all can definitely trigger lots of migraines. As it happens I was in Norfolk for 4 days over half term with my family and had a migraine everyday I was there. Sometimes it's stress itself causing the migraines sometimes it's the relief from stress.

I'm on Amitriptyline too but really only bc it helps me sleep. I don't think you should be particularly worried as it sounds like you are going through tough times. However if your blood pressure is on the rise maybe you could ask the doctor about a drug called Candesartan? It can lower blood pressure and prevent migraines. I tried it as a migraine treatment but my blood pressure got too low so I had to come off it.

Blood pressure rises when under stress. Having a migraine is a stressor. So, I don't think that has anything to do with your migraines.

You said you were in the UK, so I'm not sure how many harmful chemicals are added to your meat and dairy. But, I know here in the US, there are so many known toxic chemicals that according to my neurologist, dairy is the #1 trigger for migraines. But, very seldom will you har a doctor admit it, because they would rather keep treating you instead of curing you.

Glyphophate is another extremely toxic chemical US farmers are allowed to saturate many fields with (including wheat- thus millions of people are gluten sensitive).

I fought 27 years with chronic migraines and one day undecided to give up dairy and go plant based (nothing processed) and 11 days later, my migraines stopped.

My neurologist congratulated me for figuring it out.

Anyway, 6 months of being migraine free so I made pasta and ended up with a 3 day long migraine.

A friend of mine asked where the pasta was made from and I said it didn't matter, there was no dairy in it. That's when I learned that pasta made in the US has glyphosate. Yup, the same chemical thst is in weed killer that is causing millions of people to have blood cancer.

So, I eliminated pasta made in the US, dairy and of course any fragrance (since I'm now chemical sensitive).

I no longer get hormonal migraines, barametric migraines or daily migraines from dairy or pasta.

So, don't give up. Dairy farmers inject their cows with hormones (to keep them milking as well as steroids and antibiotics), so try to eliminate all forms of dairy and see how you do.

When I have cheated and had dairy, I typically get a migraine within 10-30 minutes.

Oh, and I was advised NOT to get the covid shot, as there is no saying what kind of toxic chemicals are in that experimental drug. I too had covid and had a horrible migraine for 9 days.

Good luck.

What do you use as dairy alternatives ? I only use pure butter and full fat milk as I try to avoid processing snd synthetic additives as much as possible.

There are ao many alternatives. I suffered with chronic migraines for over 27 years (more than 1/2 my life) Saw every doctor possible and when I reached my lowest point (yes, wanted to end my life due to living in pain), I decided to give up dairy. 11 days later, my migraines stopped. When I called my numerologist to cancel my botox session, she asked why and then congratulated me foe figuring it out. I was so upset, I saw her foe 10 years and never once did she say it could be due to dairy.

She then admitted thst dairy was the number 1 trigger for migraine sufferers. I asked why it wasn't on the list of foods to avoid, and she said it was. I said I've never seen it. She said aged cheese is listed. I said I haven't had aged cheese in over 15 years. She said dairy wasn't listed because not everyone is sensitive to dairy. I said not everyone is sensitive to bananas and that made the list!

Anyway, it's been 3.5 years and barametric pressure changes no longer trigger me either. Usually, I'd get a migraine 24 hours before the pressure changes.

6 months after being migraine free, I ate pasta foe thr first time and a migraine occurred. I learned pasta made in the US had glyphosate. Glyphophate is thrbmain ingredient in Roundup and our farmers use it to dry out their wheat crops. So, I get triggered by pasta made in the US, within 10 minutes of eating it.

I now buy pasta imported from any other country and remain migraine free..

I have since cheated a few times by eating dairy and still get horrible migraines.

My hard lesson learned was doctors do not want to cure you, they would rather treat you so you keep coming back.

Any product that is dairy free is safe to eat. There are lots of options.

Hi, thanks for the info, glad you figured yours out. Do you think dairy alternatives like alpro and such would still be okay? I actual am lactose intolerant and have a weakness for chocolate, milkshake or anything dairy 😂 I am my own worst enemy haha. Didnt think about it causing the headaches, wondered if you could still have the alternatives.

I tried lactose free dairy, it still caused a migraine for me.

Plant based dairy is natually lactose free.

My goal was to give dairy free a fry for 1 full month. Everyone is different.

I've been on other migraine sites and was amazed at home many people felt dairy couldn't be it because they entrusted their doctor and since the doctor never mentioned giving up dairy, it can't possibly be the cause.

A migraine is your body's way of saying you are subjecting it to something it views as toxic.

Our bodies (like a cup) can handle just so much before it can't take anymore and spills over.

My goal is to reduce the amount of chemicals, especially those known to inflammatory, and it's worked.

I went from having 25+ migraines a month to 0.

4 ER visits a year for an IV to 0.

Several trips a year to the ENT for vertigo to now having 0 trips.

No more phantom smells either.

I agree your situation is very stressful, and removing at least some of that stress would help. You can ask for a medicines review in case anything conflicts with anything else, and failing that ask to see a consultant. However, for your peace of mind, your surgery should have literature so you can access some talking therapy. It won't cure you, but it might help you cope better with your difficulties. Being ill is a stress in itself - I sometimes think 'if I didn't have this migraine, I could get on with solving some of my problems!' Good luck!
