Brain Zaps

Hello

Does anyone on here have what I call “brain Zaps”. I have vestibular migraine and have had these before but the past couple of weeks I have had them most days. They just come out of the blue and last a few second. I have been on a low dose of citalopram for migraine. Maybe I need to try something else. Would love some feedback.

Hi, I hope you're having a good day today. I would try and keep a note of when your 'brain zaps' occur. You may see a pattern. I'd probably try to see or speak to a doctor if they persist, even if just to put your mind at rest. Good luck.

Ive had permanent chronic migarine / ndph. Cant firm up the diagnosis. For 23 months.

In 2020 my brain used to shudder like a big shiver. Now it wakes me up every day with mildest of shivers . Goes once im properly awake and have my once daily coffe. Neuro and gp have no thoughts or explanations. He is running out of ideas for me as nothings worked. Id love to find someone with the same as me but never have. I dont know if theyre similar to your zaps or not. Diary seems a good idea? Have u not noticed any trigger ? Good luck, horrible isnt it?

Thank you for replying. Sorry to hear you have “shivers” every day. These episodes are so difficult to describe. Mine feel like my brain has been given a jolt. Feel a bit dazed for a few seconds. Can’t think why they have become a daily occurrence. May have to start eliminating some foods to see what happens.

I had these 2 weeks after the onset of covid. They would come ever 4-7 seconds round the clock.

I called the BSBS nurse hotline number and she suggested I see a chiropractor. She said other patients got relief and that it was a pinched nerve.

I called my chiro (who I havent seen in 2 weeks during to covid) and told her I was on day 9 of this zapping pain.

She had me come in aster hours, adjusted me and I've been painfree since.

If you got vaccinated, there is a good sign this may be a symptom of covid.

Either way, see a chiropractor.

I also suffered with chronic migraines for 27 years and once I gave uo all forms of dairy and pasta made in the US, my chronic migraines stopped.

Thank you for replying. Glad to hear you have got rid of this horrible disease. Will have a look at my diet.

Hi,I get these “zingers” once in a great while. They last maybe a second. It seems to me that they are a migraine trying to happen…I am on Topamax as a preventive. So this may attribute to it. The suggestion to keep a diary is a great suggestion, as migraines are not one size fits all!

in reply toLeelee1957

Thank you for replying. I am going to contact GP and review my medication and look over my diet for any clues to why they have become a daily thing.
