Pain in head when I move or lie down

Hi, I have been to the doctors twice this week. They have said I have sinusitis, possible trapped nerve and Neuralgia. The pain is horrendous and comes in spasms. It’s starts if I move me neck or head or try to lie down. The pain is located in the left side of my head and can spread down the forehead a s next. Doctors have me antibiotics, nasal spray and codeine but nothing seems to be helping. Has anyone experienced this before?

Thank you.

Hi

My hubby has been getting it behind his eye, left side of his face and part of the top of his head, also in the neck. He had had spray and codeine which do seem to have helped. He's been to an eye injury clinic who sent him to hospital, he is seeing s consultant on the 18tj June. They think it's neuralgia or cluster headaches

He was literally holding his head and rocking backwards and forwards. Have you got a hospital appointment? If you haven't then you must ask them to refer you, take someone with you who can say what you've been going they. Take care Lynne

Not that exactly - sounds like you've a trapped nerve in your neck or somewhere. I have had trigeminal neuralgia a few times, thank heavens it only lasts a day at most, otherwise I'd shoot myself - neuralgic pain is particularly difficult to treat with painkillers. It does respond to massage but you'd need to know exactly what's causing the problem (assuming its musculo-skeletal/nerve endings in origin) to know where to massage. I'm guessing the thought of touching the area at all is enough to make you scream ... If it carries on, I'd be inclined to consult a cranial osteopath...

Thank you. I am going to look into that. It comes in waves. Stopped taking the codine as that was not doing anything and taking ibuprofen instead which helps.

If you think the doctor could be right (he might not be, he's just guessing!) and it might be sinus trouble, try doing an inhalation, you know, the bowl of boiling water with vick or menthol/eucalyptus in it, towel over the head over the bowl and breathe in the vapours for 5 minutes periodically. Its the only thing that helps when my sinuses are playing up, but its tedious to do - makes my fringe look terrible! I have to say it doesn't sound like sinusitis though, that usually gives me pain across my cheekbones and above the eyebrows. never had neuralgic pain with it, and it doesn't change whether you move or not, but, we're all different...
