Migraine = dizziness and vertigo???

I have suffered with migraine for 2 years, during the time that it was chronic I suffered a lot of daily dizziness. When I was increasing titration of Amitriptyline, I also had lots of dizzy attacks but things seemed to have levelled out. However, I had the worst experience last night, I was actually woken in the middle of the night by what I can only assume was an attack of vertigo. As I woke, it felt like my head was spinning, my eyes were involuntarily going right to left over and over. I was really scared, I laid in bed and tried to stare at the lampshade on the ceiling, closing 1 eye then the other to see if I could control it. It went on for about 20 mins until it settled, even with my eyelids closed I could tell my eyes were spinning :-( This morning I feel very uneasy and wobbly, plans cancelled for the day and taking it easy as I'm good for nothing. Is this something you all experience, I hope the vertigo attack is just a one off after a very busy day at work and lots of computer time on a stressful project?!

If you spend a lot of time looking at screens (most of us do now) can I suggest you visit a cranial osteopath - the symptoms you describe I have had frequently down the years, and they are caused by the state of my neck, aggravated by certain postures, such as looking fixedly for a length of time at something like a screen, or tipping my head back to paint a ceiling, that sort of thing. The cranial osteopath would sort my neck out and I'd be free of the vertigo for some months... I too have woken up with the room spinning. or maybe the bed spinning round, that's what it feels like, so its possible its your neck causing both the migraine and the dizziness.
