Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with this drug? I've been on it for 3 days and had terrible headaches day and night and today feel absolutely out of it and I can hardly open my eyes. I've made an appt to see the GP today and won't take any more. So disappointed and frustrated as I thought this was the cure for my migraines :o( Thank you Jo x

I took it for 3 months and felt really odd with it. Lost my spacial awareness, couldn't judge distances at all. However, it did make my migraines less so maybe you need to start on a lower dose, discuss with your Dr, good luck

Yep I took Toprimate abs 6 weeks I was a zombie with headaches. I was really struggling with my cognitive problems which got worse and worse on the tablets. It did help with my vertigo balance but that was all. Neurologist took me off them after 4 months but took another month to slowly come off them. Did nothing for my HM migraines, and now I’m seeing Professor Goadsby team at Kings College they just said typical that other neurologist had put me on it as really only for seizure and epilepsy. It has had some success with migraine but not sure what type or if it’s with other issues.

Hello,

I was prescribed it after 2 other preventives failed to make a difference to my condition (at that time diagnosed as migraines) i took it for 3 months and felt like i was changing as a person. I had different side effects at varying times but due to the side effects (some of which scared me) and having no impact on my daily symptoms i asked to come off it. Ive since being diagnosed with chronic hemicrania continua and on a different (lamotrigine) epilepsy preventative (not having much effect either). Good luck with finding something that helps you without the side effects🤞

Saw the GP and I'm not taking anymore, it's the worst medication I've ever taken and I thought I'd tried some bad stuff. The GP has advised to double up on the Norytriptyline so I will try again with it although I hate the drowsiness and dry mouth - it's nothing compared to the Topiramate I now realise. Jo x

Hi there.. Sorry you are having such a bad time. I too had to stop Topiramate after a couple of months due to side effects. I felt unwell and became very depressed. I also had muscle ache and fatigue. To be honest though, I don't tolerate medications well generally and struggle with side effects from most I have tried. I know lots of people have been helped by Topiramate, and sometimes your body needs a few weeks to adjust....3 days isn't very long but maybe speak to your g.p. about how you feel. Good luck.
