It's a normal part of migraine, do you know it's the triptans and not migraine itself? Triptans rarely fully take away the migraine for me so I still feel ill just not as ill without the triptans. I thought for years and years it was the triptans that made my neck and throat feel weird but then I had to stop taking triptans for a year and half bc of pregnancy and found I still got the same feeling without them.

You may need a different triptan or highrer/repeat dose. Which one have you taken and at what dose?

Triptans may not work unless you take it at the onset of migraine/headaches. 2/3 hours after taking triptans, if you still see no improvement then I suggest you take 3 dispersible aspirin (300mg x 3) together (with water of course) - this should work. But the key is - you need to act quickly, if you leave your headache untreated for several hours then no medicine may work (it may if you are lucky) and you have to complete the full suffering cycle.

Please do not exceed aspirin dose written on the medicine package. Also, if you are suffering from peptic ulcers, you cannot take aspirin.

I still feel the effects the next day after taking triptans. It may take even longer for you to get them out of your system. Everyone is different. Maybe try a different triptan. I find the are a little different in their own way.

as others say - triptans don't work for everyone

They are also very powerful medication and can cause symptoms of migraine if taken in too large a dose.

Suggest you speak to the dispensing pharmacist.

it may be that you need to take a partial dose rather than a full dose.

I used to take 1/4 dose of rizatriptan

I was prescribed 40 mg reload but take 20, early, and that works quite well. 40 knocked me out. Dizzy nauseous emotional. Worth it! To be pain free but not necessary.

I have to take advil (ibuprofen, NSAID) with it for it to work, or else it's not enough on it's own. I am weary of aspirin because it causes me to have breathing issues.
