Hi
I was wondering if anyone has had nerve block injections or botox for their migraines? If anyone has had any relief from it or any advice I would really appreciate it.
Thank you

Hi natalie i have had hemaplegic migraines since i was 4yrs old im a couple of yrs into botox i live in and out of migraine symptoms daily and have found botox has given me my life back it hasnt cured me but im 60% better. Each time you have them it varies on how it works some months are more successful but its majorly relieved my hemaplegic symptoms make sure its thru headache specialist and not cosmetic botox as its not quite the same x
Hi Katie
Thank you so much for your advice, i definitely want to try it and hopefully it will give me some relief!
I'm sorry to hear you have been suffering, I'm glad you've managed to get some relief with BOTOX, it sounds very positive!
Thank you

Natalie, I had Botox— it worked for about 9 months then rebound set in and the migraine wouldn’t let up for a month. That’s when I got addicted to Triptans and still am trapped. 15 years ago. Botox also is dangerous; it DOES NOT STAY LOCALIZED as the docs tell us. It migrates through one’s bloodstream. It is used in chemical warfare to paralyze soldiers. Hi
Thank you for the advice on BOTOX, it's interesting hear different people's experience with it. I'm sorry it wasn't as effective for you. I will definitely do some more research before having it done.
Thank you,

hi Natalie,
I have chronic hemicrania continua and have been having the four nerve block injections every 3 months since January. The idea in my case is to have as a rescue treatment whilst they have been increasing my preventative meds over this time. On 2 occasions it worsened my head for around 4:5 days but then took my pain down considerably for upto 5 weeks (mine never goes away) with the odd bad day. On the 3rd occasion the relief was next day. So for me i feel they are a benefit as at least i get some days where i can function ok. They don’t hurt at all but i have a sensation when the liquid goes in and some of the injection sites are a little sore for a few days but only minor. Hope this helps.
Good luck and hope that they give you some relief too🤞

Hi
Thank you so much for your reply. I'm sorry to hear you suffer all of the time, I'm glad you're managing to get relief from the injections. I've never been diagnosed with hemicrania continua but I suffer with a 24/7 headaches too so it's good to know that it helps! I hope you continue to get relief from it.
Thank you

I've had a greater occipital nerve block in June but it didn't work - in my case it did make my permanent migraine worse, but I am glad I gave it ago.
I've got an appointment next month with my neurologist to try the botox so I've got my fingers crossed for that to work.
Mine work for occipital neuralgia for the first month to two months. I had break through pain still, but not as bad. Botox didn't work and they injections stopped their effectiveness. I have been referred to an ON specialist. I have seen him once, he ordered more testing and go back in a month. He thinks surgery will be the way to go! Goodluck I'll pray for you!
Hi Natalie, I just had Botox for the first time. The neuro told me a 50% decrease is considered a success. It was darn near painless, took about 4 minutes. I’m feeling pretty good so yes I’ll be going back in 3 months. My daughter-in-law highly recommended this treatment, so why not? I am having great luck with neck therapy, sublingual b12, magnesium also. I think my neck is a lot bigger contributor than I ever realized
Hi winne77
Thank you for your reply and for telling me about your experience.
I'm so glad that it seems to be helping you! I'm due an appointment at the migraine clinic so will see what they say.
Can I ask what is sublingual b12 and what neck therapy you have because I suffer a lot with neck and shoulder pain and bad posture and believe that this is a main trigger for me.
Thank you
Natalie x
Hope I can help. Sublingual means Vitamin b12 that you put under your tongue to help with absorption. I do so on empty stomach. As for neck, I went to physical therapy for a couple of sessions, but have stuck with exercises I found online twice a day I found at this link alwaysfysio.nl/en/neck-pain.... Try to copy and paste
I also put 2 tennis balls in a sock and roll them around on neck down left side of shoulder blade. All my neck pain and headaches are left side.
I've had both the nerve block I had a mild reaction too so experienced flushing in my face after and tbh no relief from it, I've had Botox a few times and was the only thing that gave me relief took a while to settle, intially gives you migraine but after that brilliant! Lasts ages , that was two years ago and I'm waiting for more praying it's soon , good luck x
Yes had GON really helped me my Grandaughter found it didn't help her but Botox did
