I am so sorry you have had no sucess on that drug. I was on it for 4 weeks and had psychotic episodes. I was so scared to go back to the neurologist.

Go back to your doctor and try another drug there will be something out there for you. How many different meds have you tried for those headaches?

Topamax is an evil drug Betty356 . I would not recommend it for my enemies. This article I wrote may be of help in understanding why you are hurting: hormonesmatter.com/topamax-... Feel free to join my FB migraine group where you will find many migraineurs who already quit Topamax and are doing great. Migraine-free life is totally possible only one needs to understand the cause. By now I treated over 4000 migraineurs with great success (I am a migraineur myself so I know what you are going through). It may sound odd by migraine is preventable. Not easy but can be done! <3

So sorry that you are going through this. I know what you mean about coming off meds and beginning to feel like yourself again..... It's cruel that the pain comes back.... It always seems to be a choice between pain and medication side effects. I hope that you can get the headaches under control and can stay off Topiramate. Take care.

I really feel for you. I am supposed to be cutting down on topiromate ( topax) to make way for another medication... But I have experienced no stop cluster migraines and have had to go on oxygen etc etc. I have never experienced this in my life.

I have gone back to my normal dose because I had specialist, emergency doctors etc etc running around me.

When- how can I get off this medication.

Please keep me informed of how you get on.

Good luck

Hi Betty356! Yikes you are weaning off of Topamax, that is scary to me! I've been on it for a year and a half because I had a sudden onslaught of headaches that required morphine to relieve. I'm still on the Topamax even though I've been on Botox for a month. Thinking about weaning off as well. I guess I just want to express my sympathies to you because this medical merry-go-round sucks. I'm dizzy all the time and I don't know if I'm coming or going. Good luck to you and I hope you are in touch with your Neurologist about all this! Best!

I haven't even talked with a neurologist about my headaches. I have been on Topmax for depression and bipolar disorder, and seizures. But now that I think of it when I was on it my headaches were a lot better

I hope that you will give it a go with a Neurologist! I have depression too, but at least a Neuro doctor can R/O a brain disorder and make sure you don't have TIAs and other things, he or she can do brain CT and MRI. Just to be sure! Best of luck and Cheerio! You are going through so very much so keep me posted! Hugs to you!!!
