I found my Migraine cure

I'm reading Dr. Sarno’s book about TMS ( Tension Myositis Syndrome ), the very real connection between the brain, the subconscious and the body.

Well, that was a revelation!

It's lucky that I'm really receptive to new ideas, because my painful backache was banished in one day…..ONE DAY!

Can you believe it?

Apparently it's a growing syndrome, people who suffer from the stress and strains of modern day life get laid low by chronic pain, anywhere in the body that has blood circulation!

This is what I've learnt - The subconscious is like a child, it gets angry, is unreasonable and is continually at war with your conscious mind…the adult.

It's occurred to me, that when I've had a bad cold or flu, and I've been so sick that there is no room for anything else in my mind, except the misery of the sickness…I've thought to myself, it's almost a relief to stop thinking about those evil creatures that were my employers, and my fear of old age and poverty…and losing my faculties.

So, Dr Sarnos` information was not really new to me..deep down I knew it already.

I'd just started the book, and had watched a few YouTube lectures from people who had been healed by the knowledge from the book.

I hadn't yet got to the page that lists the usual ailments that camouflage the emotional storm in the subconscious.

A day later I came upon it, in black and white..MIGRAINES WERE ON THE LIST!

I was convinced from the research I had done, in my desperate search to find a cure, that migraines were genetic, they were vascular, and were incurable.

On contemplating the genetic, yeah, the personality traits run in families..I sadly recognise my mother in myself, and vascular? Yes, the way TMS works is that your brain, having taken instructions from your subconscious, slightly constricts the blood supply to which ever area works best to put you safely out of emotional harms way.

Laid up in bed, in pain, or high on pain killers.

And, apparently backache and depression go hand in hand, you can't cure one without treating the other!

Just understanding the the power your brain has over your body, the connection of your mind to your physical, is enough to stop the chronic pain.

Within days you can be pain free.

Like I said, all you have to do is understand.

No dancing naked under the moon, or swallowing unspeakable concoctions.

I haven't had a migraine in 7 days.

I usually get 3 a week.

If you suffer from chronic pain, from any part of your body, do yourself a favour and read this book, you've got nothing to lose, except your pain.

I downloaded it to my kindle for about £3, and it's isn't too long.

( I sound like I'm selling, but I assure you I'm not )

I'm shocked that this information isn't shared by our GPs, surely they are aware of the power of the mind over the body?

I'm almost tempted to give a copy to my GP, and say read this!, but I doubt she would.

They are probably afraid of being regarded as a quack. ( which is exactly what I think they are!)

I had to share this with my fellow sufferers, if I didn't, I'd feel guilty for withholding such useful information.

Good luck, let me know if this helps anyone ?

  • I've tried lots of alternative therapies, hoping to bring an end to my migraines, all with no success. The one I considered that sounds similar to Dr Sarbo's is "The Migraine Revolution" by Martin Brink who recommends counselling and/or psychotherapy both of which are beyond my financial means.

But at the end of the day, I've come to believe what one of the doctors in the documentary movie "The Living Matrix" says. It goes something like this: "If you believe it will work, it probably will. If you don't believe it will work, it probably won't." This, I suspect, can be applied to what Dr Sarno writes. It's not so much a matter of understanding rather than believing.

I understand what Donald Trump is saying but I don't believe it will bring a better life to most Americans. My feeling is, if he gets elected as president, may God help us all! It's the same with religious teachings. You may understand them but they don't work if you don't believe them! If you believe what Dr Sarno writes, it will probably work. If you don't believe him, it probably won't!

  • Thanks for your response, ( sorry I've been away & packing to move house, so not been on this site ) ..

I just wanted to say, I don't think it's about believing- I know faith healing only works if you have faith, but I think it's more about understanding.

Something happened that proved Dr Sarnos theory to me.

A very dear friend was being buried, and I couldn't attend her funeral because it's in South Africa, & I'm in the uk.

So I decided I would dedicate an hour to just thinking of her, at the same time of the funeral, and pray, and cry and say goodbye and thanks for her life.

I woke up that morning feeling fine, aware I must keep an eye on the time... And was dreading the hour of guaranteed mental anguish and heartbreak..

As the time grew closer, I felt the migraine suddenly coming.. Within ten minutes I was crippled with pain and nausea.. There was nothing I could do, but take a sumatriptan and pass out.

When I woke up, I knew.

I knew I had put myself out of the running, on purpose, to avoid the emotion pain of the private funeral!

I was shocked at the personal revelation of how powerful my subconscious is! What a tricky sod!

That was the last migraine I will ever have, I have vowed, and so far, it's held true.

I even talk aloud to my subconscious, and tell it, ok, I know this is hard, but it's time to grow up. ... DONT SEND A MIGRAINE! - I DONT NEED IT !

I've had headaches from upset digestion and lack of enough sleep, but not migraines... I can live with that.... I understand about electrolytes and the necessity of enough sleep.

I hope this helps someone else, I'm so grateful to Dr Sarno

    Good luck to you all.

  • But you believed it! That's my point. I've been working on it since buying the Sarnos book "The Mindbody Prescription". I'm sure I understand what he's writing and I've made notes and done further reading about the Freudian basis of his theory as well as other theories about the nature of the mind or the psyche. I understand. I talk to my subconscious. I get annoyed with. Still the migraines come. I suspect I don't really believe it.

Anyway, I'm happy for you. If you've found something that works, be VERY happy!

  • Many hanks for the heads up. Im gonna buy the book....pronto!!
