Yesterday I felt absolutely fine all day. Shortly after going to bed at 2230 I began to feel sick and started getting tremors. It took ages to go to sleep, but awoke at 0330 feeling truly dreadful; Sick, nausea, general muscle ache and head ache - really awful. Had to get up, cup of tea and a couple of Paracetamol - listened to some soothing music on my ipad. Finally went back to bed feeling much the same at about 0515, Dozed on and off till up at 0800, still feeling wretched. Took a ZAPPAIN ( Codeine & Paracetamol) which, unless desperate I try to avoid as with too many the Codeine can give you head aches. Began to get significant relief after about an hour, thank God. And so to the next time...
Hail fellow Pilgrims; is there no end... - National Migraine...
Hail fellow Pilgrims; is there no end to this totally debilitating migraine saga? Tidewatch.
I feel your frustration! I've just posted (under a question I asked last night) that I wish I could take my head off. And preferably leave it somewhere for a bit until it learns to sort itself out.
I can deal with the headaches, it's the incompetence of my brain that gets up my wick.
On Tuesday, whilst at work and going through the aura phase I left a note for my colleagues. When I went in yesterday a couple of people asked what the note meant, because I'd written absolute drivel.
Hope you are feeling better today.
Yes thank you teadrinker. By mid morning, some 3 hours after taking a Zapain, I felt almost human. See my reply to zigzag. Kepp your head on!
I feel your pain! Sounds very much like me many a night. Do I detect you've had med overuse headache in the past. If yes can you describe how you got better.
Hello zigzag, thanks for your reply. The basic answer to your question about overuse headache mitigation is to identify the medication that appears to be the likely cause, ie. most frequently used, and try to substitute it with an acceptable alternative, Virtually all the myriad of drugs that I have had prescribed over the years have had unacceptable "side effects" where they mirror the symptoms that they are meant to combat!
Of the more benign common potions, as mentioned, I find Zapain generally effective - but they contain Codeine, a known culprit, so one has to be circumspect in its use. Paracetamol can help me if taken early in the onset, but useless when in the grips of a migraine. Really the only safe thing is to try to avoid an overdose; difficult when one feels suicidal !
With the prevalence of Migraine, I cannot understand in this day and age why more is not known about its cause and - particularly - it's effective treatment. We are just left to grin and bear it. I resorted to a single Zapain at 0800 and felt very much better by 1100 today though still somewhat fragile. I can only wish you GOOD LUCK. Tidewatch.
Thanks for that. I am coming off cocodomol right now. Been using too much over the years.
