Increase In migranes with aura

Hi this is my first post. I have suffered with migranes for years mostly due to hormones. Over the last four months I have started getting the visual aura in both eyes where you get the zig zag lines. I got one in april and then two in may and another two in June. This month I have had about five. I very rarely got the aura before this. Should I be worried this has started the actual pain seems to be less than before but the vision thing is scary. I take a sumartriptain as soon as it happens. It only last 30 mins each time. Has this happened to any one else. The docs dont seems concerned but they are getting more and more

So sorry!

Have you had an MRI? Have you seen a migraine Specialist?

If the answer is no, I encourage both of these. Migraines with Aura are different and need to be treated uniquely.

Please also consider watching and learning from world migraine summit.

Hope you get help soon.

Thanks for you reply. I have an appointment next week to see a neurologist. So hopefully they will give me a MRI.

From what I understand, a headace specialist is usually an MD (sometimes a Neurologist) who only sees and treats migraines. If you do not get answers please request to see a skilled specialist.

I did not do this and just got a MRI and something abnormal was found.

Hope these ideas help and the site migraine world summit change your life.

Oh don't worry about yourself. But I have been told for over 10 years that they are classic migraines and even with me doing everything (avoiding triggers, drinking lots of water, not skipping meals, doing yoga/medication, trying massage, chiropractic, acupuncture and biofeedback, trying many types and dosage of medications) the migraines have gotten worse.

So I always knew something was not right.

My situation does not mean everyone is like me and will have an abnormal finding on an MRI. What I am saying is the sooner you get an MRI the sooner you have a "baseline" recording and you can learn if you are clear. Hope this makes sense.

I now live with 10 years of not having measurements, from the beginning to where I am now.

I know if would have pushed and seen a Migraine Specialist, I would not have spent so many years suffering.

Hope you find answers. One more thing that makes sense that I learned from the online worldmigrainesummit is that if you continue to have pain... your treatment plan is not correct and you should not settle until you are out of pain.

Best of luck!

Thanks for your reply. I did have a scan about 10 years ago when they thought I may have epilepsy iam going back to the same hospital so hopefully they will have it on record and if I get another they can compare. I will defo check out your recommendations

Hi ashy,

You need to relax and try not to do a lot of exercises if you already going gym or running.

I’ve had this issue and after helpless from NHS I’ve followed homeopath remedies and which makes big difference and works.
