Hi I have previously had nerve blocks done in the back of my head but with no effect. Tomorrow I am having a nerve blocks done again in the back of my head but also the right side of my head and right cheek. Has anyone else had this done? Did it help you? I was offered it through the pain clinic as nothing else I have tried has helped at all with my chronic migraines. Thanks

I had a few when I was pregnant. It was given by injection in may neck and shoulders becuass that is where they determined the pain was coning from.

Yes it helped.

They did not want me taking any medication due to the baby.

Have you tried oxygen? Sometimes that can help if you catch it early..Hope you stay pain free!

I've had 3 injections, and they didn't do thing, my headaches were called cluster headaches and they are the worst pain known to mankind, commonly known as " suicide headaches " I was originally started on propananol, which worked a bit, but the headaches came back, I went onto topiramate for 2 years and then all of a sudden the headaches came back, I increased the dose to double and still failed to work. I was at the end of my tether and I was introduced to verapamil and sumaptrapin injections, the tablets were gradually increased and in the beginning it was the injections that kept me saine, the tablets worked!!!

The injections would stop a full blown attack, and I'm relatively free from these awful headaches, the specialist suggested oxygen therapy but because I've got a gas fire it wasn't a good idea, as the surrounding environment could cause an explosion, so speak to a neurologist and seek advice, your doctor won't understand all types of headaches or migraines, and even though a headache doesn't sound as bad as a migraine, I can assure anyone who's had this condition will understand how disturbing these are , they take you to places you'd rather not be there, best of luck!

Thank you for your reply. I’m so sorry you suffer so badly with cluster headaches but it’s good you’ve found something that’s helping. I’ve been under a neurologist for over 7 years and have slowly worked through all the preventative options available but all have had no effect. I’ve had a nerve block twice in the back of my head only but that didn’t help so hoping the 3 injections may help. So far it’s just caused a continual headache but 🤞it gives me some relief. I’ve not heard about oxygen therapy before so maybe that’s something to speak to my neurologist about.

I have heard of getting botox injections for head pain; a friend of mine got them after a TBI.
