I'm toying with having a pop at it, has anybody tried it? Did it work? Also does anybody know of anything online that would be helpful to get started with? Don't want to pay for anything as yet in case it does not work out,

Thank You!

I have tried it. I just sit in a comfy chair, nice and straight and relaxed.Do some deep breathing and whilst doing that for a few breaths focus on a point on the wall. Then close your eyes and continue with deep brathing but concentrating on your thoughts on your nose. If your thoughts wander don't worry just bring them back to the nose. You are supposed to cut out outside noise from your head so you are soley concentrating on your nose and breathing. I find this hard but don't worry too much. The heavier your feet feel the deeper into meditation you are.It takes some practice and I am certainly not there yet but do find this excercise helps. Good luck.

This is an excellent site - with downloads beaumont.ie/index.jsp?p=528.... Not directed at a specific religion.

I dedicated my entire life to exploring meditation for 2 or 3 years , i wanted to find out the meaning of life, One thing is certain if anyone tells you they have a path or a set of practices to follow which only they know and you don't, walk away, they most definitly do not know anything.

Thanks for the responses guys, and special thanks for those links, will have a look tomorrow.

Hi

I'm not sure whether it is relevant but you might google mindfulness which is a meditation based form of therapy for depression etc.

You could try hot (Bikram) yoga? Its fantastic! Though often expensive. Its about the closest ive got to meditation so far. Normal yoga seems a bit boring to me but hot yoga somehow feels like an intense calming experience, like you somehow sweat out your problems and for that while nothing is anything. I can't afford to go as often as id like and its not very close to me but i do love its intensity.

Alternatively if anyone can recommend and good (cheap please) CDs that would be fab x
