I'm just wondering if anyone has ever used fucidin cream for their balanitis?

Fucidin cream
I was prescribed it by my GP to get rid of balanitis instead of surgery but it didn't work so had to have the cut. Been ok since. It is the first cream that docs seem to go to for balanitis, but there are alternatives if you go back and say it isn't working.
Thanks for reply, for me it's always been Canesten and Daktacort that my urologist have recommender, neither have done anything of real note
There's another one that I was prescribed which was slightly better, I'll have a rummage in the medicine cabinet tomorrow!
Thank you Man7Cut
Just had a look at the tube. It's called Dermovate and it was better than the Fucidin ,recommended to my GP by urology dept at hospital.Unfortunately didn't do the job for me because I had skin adhesions so still had to have the circumcision.
Oh yes I've used Dermovate also and like you said it just offers very temporary relief but things go back to being as.bad or worse than before, thanks for help
unfortunately creams are temporary relief. I used them all for years. Then it just got worse and had to have it Circumcision and best thing I did.
depends what kind of balanitis you have, fucidin might be good for a bacterial balanitis , canesten/dakacort for fungal and dermovate if it's a skin condition
Please see the advice offered by NHS England. This stresses the importance of determining what is causing it. A visit to a sexual health clinic might give you the answers you need more quickly. I had balanitis once and it was caused by the diabetes medication I was taking. A circumcision may not always be the cure you are looking for.
It’s a common cause unfortunately. May I ask, did your GP switch medication, or was there no alternative?
Yes. My medication was changed. It was dapagliflosin that caused the problem as it gets rid of sugar from the body via the urine. I believe I was put on exenatide.
Exenatide is a bit old now. You might be better looking at semaglutide or tirzepatide. I am currently on tirzepatide 10mg weekly and 2 grams of Metformin (4 x 500mg daily).
I used it after pubic hair shave to heal minor cuts
if you have bacterial infection it could help. If it's a yeast infection then you can treat it with Clotrimazole, commonly used for foot fungal infections. You would apply it every 2-3hrs for 3 days then 3 times per day for 3 more days. You would see improvement within 24-48 hrs if it's yeast. Sometimes they say it's bacterial but it's actually yeast. If it is yeast an antibiotic will make it worse bc it disrupts the balance in that area. Hopefully whoever told you to use this tested somehow. Signs of yeast are a yeasty smell, swelling, pain, blotches, bumps.
Hi IPNH,
I have used Canesten which really is the brand name for Clotrimazole, improved things for a brief period but no use over a long period of time
