I went for an operation 3 days ago and my entire penis is inflamed and painful,I was told its not normal to be like it should only be swollen on the incision and not the whole penis,anyone experienced something like that....

Everyone’s penis is different and it deals with healing differently but most of the minor complications/general healing symptoms you will usually suffer with but it’s not much to worry about as all minor operations have side effects to deal with. You’ve got this mate just continue with all the info on aftercare and monitor your progress and keep an eye on the swelling etc or other concerns you may have. I suggest you contact the doctor who carried your procedure out if you are really worried or concerned or just want some reassurance.

Since it’s day 3 you should of removed the compression bandage not sure if you have or not but if you have then you will notice swelling would of increased because you no longer have pressure on the area. Swelling can take a few weeks to go down but it’s different for everybody. Try to avoid getting erections wake up at 04:00am empty your bladder this will minimise getting morning glory. Don’t drink fluids just before you sleep leave time between last drink and heading to sleep.

For the pain I suggest you use general medication paracetamol/ibuprofen

Make sure to keep it clean and apply dressings 2x a day if you feel it’s necessary to protect open wounds to keep them clean so they can heal more until you can expose it to the air.

Thank you very much,i went to the doctor today he also said is nothing to worry about....the swelling is normal and gave me antibiotics.Medreich flucloxacillin,Ibuprofen and an ointment to apply after....

As London432 says, take regular paracetamol and ibuprofen if you are able to tolerate both.

I don’t know if everyone does it but salt water and taking Zinc supplements has helped my circumcision heal really well. I submerged my penis into lukewarm salt water for 15 minutes, then gently squeeze with gauze to dry it three times a day and before I sleep I take zinc supplements, it’s the end of my week three now and I’m feeling no pain, the sensitivity has decreased greatly and stitches are starting to fall off and I’m 36 years of age.😊

Yes, it helps a lot and also prevents any chance of infection to the incision wound.

If you want to try it, here’s how to prepare your solution:

Boil 2 litres of water and add 8 table spoons of salt, allow the solution to cool then store it in a clean container. Every time you want to wash, warm just an enough amount which can fill a 250mg cup, just like warm, not more than that. Submerged your penis inside the solution for 15 min and dry it.

London432 has given you good advice which is based on medically approved information. However, your own doctor should always be consulted if you are in serious doubt about anything.

Healing after circumcision is not a one day event, but a gradual process lasting 6-8 weeks in general. Swelling will continue for some while after the wound itself appears to be fully healed.

How long does it take for the pain to go away...generally...

Everyone is different, you will read on here that some where back in work two days later with no ill effects. Others it could be weeks.

Keep it clean, take pain killers as needed and slowly and gently introduce touch and gentle pressure to the area, this will help you become accustomed to the 'new you'. I found the spray from the shower helped.

Thank you,the pain is not bad anymore but the swelling around the penis hasn't gone down...the swelling is so big that i have to wear support so that it doesnt hang otherwise it strains the muscle on the base of the penis...

Swelling should be reducing by now, try a cold compress. A pack of frozen veg' or something cold wrapped in cloth, do not put directly on wound. Rest on do not press. I found tight 'jocky' type pants helped.

Hi I also was circumsised and im on day 5 now. Fortunately i think i dont have a lot of swelling but just crazy sensitive and painful when getting erections especially at night. Salt water and lots of painkillers helping me.

Glad the swelling is not bad,I went back to the doctor today he saw the swelling is still the same and he changed the medication....he gave me prednisone 5 mg, he said it'll help with the swelling and pain I took it this morning and i can feel the pain is not bad anymore.hopefully it'll do the work....
