Hi

I recently posted about starting new hrt and experiencing nausea and loss of appetite.

My symptoms were down to a UTI and kidney pain - so not down to new hrt - so mystery solved!!!!

Thank you for your reply. I’ve had to stop taking the antibiotics as they were making me feel overwhelmingly sick and unwell and fainty with a fuzzy head. The antibiotics were called Nitrofurantoin. I have to go back to see my gp for a different antibiotic.

Hi, recently have had the similar problems with Nitrofurantoin, chest pains ,upset stomach. They replace with Trimethoprim, but 7 days later and still hasn't shifted the uti. Will be back in touch with GP tomorrow, would be interested to know what they gave you in place and did it work, thanks

Hi second antibiotic given was fosfomycin - 2 sachets but apparently didn’t cure uti and then a brand new penicillin one - all of these antibiotics made me very sick and I can’t overstate how ill they made me - I actually lost weight!! A specimen was sent off for culture growth and it was all clear so something worked along the way!!’ My gut feeling is the fosfomycin as it was the only course fully completed as it was only 3 days long and 2 sachets.

Good luck
