Constant ache

Hi all, I post a couple of weeks ago when I was 2 weeks late for my period but had cramping period pain. I saw my doctor who went through a checklist of peri menopause related questions then referred me for blood tests. 2 days before the blood tests I finally got my period and it was normal for me - 6 days long and painful.

However, 5 days after my period ended I continued to get a dull ache in my womb/stomach area then I stated bleeding again! Only very lightly and it seems to have tailed off today so I’ve been bleeding for around 3 more days in total. I still have an awful dull ache - just below my stomach and above the top of my vaginal area and it just won’t go away

my blood test looks ok - I’ve looked on the NHS app but not had any feedback from the doctor. It is showing high testosterone but everything else seems to be in the normal range.

I don’t know what the point of this post is other than to say I’m really worried about what this may be. It’s taking over my life. I’ve got to wait until Monday for another docs appointment and that will only be over the phone. Is this normal for peri menopause?

My peri menopausal periods went from very light & only every few months to one really heavy & painful one & back to none or very light from 10 plus months .

I started HRT a month ago & I did have a period but my GP warned that this might happen but it was fairly light.

I would keep a detailed diary for when you speak to your gp.

Of course a detailed diary for when you speak to GP is a must, but remember they only have a few minutes to speak to you, they don't have time to listen to a long list of things or questions. When I told my doctor - a woman I had never spoken to before ever - a gynocologist - over phone, I was having cold like symptoms from using patches she said well stop using them then! Very dismissive and very black and white, no thought to how I could cope without the benefits from them. Then she said I could use the vaginal cream when that would not fit with any of my symptoms or problems at all. Five minutes from start to finish. I had to arrange to speak to a different doctor a few weeks later to get someone who listened and wasnt so brusque and dismissive and cut and dried about it all. If you have a little list of questions write them down and stick to them. As the time soon runs out.

I've been on hrt for months following a total hysterectomy - I am 65 - now I am having an awful stomach ache virtually every waking moment, very debilitating. Cannot do housework, sleep, go out, work etc because of it. I weaned myself off of the patches slowly and still had the problem, so coming off of them was not the cure! Anyway the patches do help with certain things and I want that help from them.

My original gynocologist had misled me when she told me at the beginning of the year that if I had my ovaries removed it would not affect me at all, as ovaries stop working when you are 42. This proved to be wrong. All of my horrid symptoms came on a few weeks after the op. If I've learnt nothing else it is that a lot of so called experts are not really experts at all, they get their facts wrong, guess or tell you what you want to hear.

I am 46 and recently had the cramping ache after periods for a few months. Then one month I had horrible old blood discharge all month with cramping then bleeding. I was in so much pain I went to a & e. (By this time I also had pain and burning in cervix area). Gynaecology diagnosed me with Pid (pelvic inflammatory disease). I was given 2 lots of antibiotics for 2 weeks. Doctors tend not to look for this in older women as they associate it with stds. However in is an infection that anyone can get. Sometimes a coil, or other procedure can cause it, other times they don’t know. Look it up as if you’re no better you’ll need the antibiotics.
