I THINK the encephalitis bit means an infection in the brain. The group a strep is a type of infection and septicaemia is blood poisioning???? I think.

I had VM with encephalitis last year. I hope your daughter is feeling better.

Hi

Meningitis is inflammation of the meninges – the layer of membranes which surround the brain and spinal cord. Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain tissue. Both of these conditions can be caused infection. Meningitis and Encephalitis can occur separately but sometimes occur together and this is when the term meningoencephalitis is used.

As someone has already posted, septicaemia is blood poisoning. Streptococcal group A refers to the type of bacteria which has caused the septicaemia. Septicaemia can occur together with meningitis.

I hope this helps.

I am sorry to hear that your daughter has some problems. Has she had some counselling from the Trust? If so I think you can go back and ask for some more. This really helped me and as I understand it they do things like art therapy as well. I was sad to hear that she has no friends anymore, the Trust do family days perhaps that a way of meeting new friends? hope this helps.

Shes had no counselling yet,all the medical people keep on about refering her to camhs but cant decide if the cause is bullying,if it is camhs wont take her! Ive only just found out about the trust, will get the bottle up to phone and ask for help but finding telling people i cant cope hard(sounds stupid i know)!

Hi, my son had encephalitis and meningitis, I think that you really should question more the doctors and ask what'ever you need to know....I know it is such a trauma to go through this experience and your daughter needs a lot of support too, I had gone with my son to a psychologist for post traumatic stress .we both received Counselling.it helps greatly.it takes time but everything will fall into place.after 5 years he is now well and has stopped medication too!
