Viral meningitis memory problems 30 yrs after

30 year after viral meningitis I cannot remember word to songs and people’s names, I’m also dyslexic too. I get easily irritated mildly aggressive, tired, and lots of anxiety and some depression. My symptoms are 24/7. I don’t know if I have a brain injury. How can I find out? Is it only a cat or ct scan? My doctors in the past have been reluctant to scan s they tell me the treatment would be the same. Anyone else in this position?

Unfortunately 30 years after meningitis, you are also 30 years older and that can have quite an impact on memory too. However, I do believe that meningitis causes brain injuries of differing degrees, some reparable, some lasting and perhaps even some degenerative. I am 9 months post meningitis and still have major energy, memory, occasional headaches which I never had before, and serious concentration issues. It is all much better than before except for the concentration which I feel almost zero improvement on.

I’ve had the symptoms for 30 as well. I wish it was me just getting old. Lol

I have had the problem since 1969 thats 50 years ago its a very sad situation like most of the posts youll see here no one buys your story so your life is doubly impacted

Iam now 72 and can tell you this you can survive it but your life will never be good

perhaps if I had found a sympathetic wife or friend slong the way it would have made a diff but few people ever do

I read the bible and look to the hope it hold out for a new world soon to come if you really think mans goverments can turn this mess around just check world history to see if they have ever figured out how to bring any happiness to mankind its been anutter failuer

Mine was 4.5 years ago and have besides a lot of other symptoms, i have problems with names even people i have known for a long time! Also words to a songs... Old songs i do know sometimes. But new ones never can remember a thing! I think our brains have had such an attack it just can't do the things it used to do. And i think some things will not get better..

Some song are as clear as day, other not a chance and I get words in songs mixed up. Sometimes I forget friends names, I joke and say I only remember the ones I like!
