Hi all, so glad I found this site, after reading many posts about recovery and after effects of bacterial meningitis I realise I have been hard on myself in thinking I should be further on in recovery, but 8 months on from discharge from hospital I am just beginning to get out with the aid of a walker not far but it’s out. I am now registered partially sighted and have 2 hearing aids I know that won’t change, but my mobility is improving! I don’t suffer headaches, but still have a bit of palsy causing me to dribble does anyone else suffer this? So yes I realise it can be a while to recovery.

I am glad you have found us and that it's inspired you to greater self compassion. It's often a long twisty road to recovery and they don't necessarily warn you about that when you leave hospital.
Well done on all you have achieved in that time frame. Xx

Hi Starry, thank you for your reply, these posts have taught me it’s not going to happen in a flash, so calm down and take things slowly. I wish you well x
