7 weeks meningitis recovery update

It's been 7 weeks since my daughters aseptic meningitis and this week her energy levels have plummeted again. 3 out of 10. Last week it was 7 out of 10. Sensitivity to noise and now getting a little reflux. Also very sensitive to touch. Vision still flickering Slightly better in the morning but by the evening exhausted.

These past few weeks have been a complete rollercoaster of emotions. After reading a few posts I am taking her to see a therapist for craniosacral therapy as that has helped some people.

I thank each of you that have contributed to this site and for sharing your difficult stories. I pray that you all improve and get better. It is about the only thing that has helped me keep my sanity.

Each morning I pray for a glimmer of hope

X

Good morning sorry to hear about your daughter this is an absolutely horrible illness that can change lives.

It was 3 years ago on father’s day that Emily was admitted to hospital with viral meningitis a day I’ll never forget.

She missed 6 months of school due to the side effects and lack of energy being one she would sleep and sleep. You are totally right it’s such a rollercoaster of emotions and some days you just wander will this ever go away?

Emily still unfortunately has bad days with severe headache and blurred vision she has come such a long way and has completed her GCSE exams only last week.Cranial therapy has helped some and I’d say any doubts or concerns take her straight back to the dr

I hope things improve for you all soon take care x

Thank you for your advice. We'll done to Emily for completing her GCSEs.

Your response has helped so much. Currently my daughter is just sleeping all the time. I think I am beginning to realize this is going to be a long haul

Took her too therapist today had to leave as too much stimulation for her. Felt as if she was going to pass out.

Noise intolerance has come back with a vengeance., even her chewing food causes severe headache

Has anyone tried noise cancelling headphones.

Hi Haffi. I have had VM 2 years ago and have had some amazing success from seeing a Quantum Healer, I had a severely disturbing very low frequency noise[25 and 35 Hz, as measured by a vibrational monitoring engineer] which was cancelled out by earmuffs but the vibration in my chest from it carried on. The Quantum Healer[Chris Fabish,New Plymouth, New Zealand] told me he would cut the connection so that it wouldn't affect me. These days I still hear it but it doesn't bother me.

I only needed one session with him. I have to say though that I still have my insomnia problems, but it's now appearing that it is due to lack of melatonin as my Pineal gland is affected by the meningitis . Also my adrenals were producing too much cortisol which impacts on the melatonin. A suggestion for you is to buy a bottle of some sort of herbal Adrenal Tonic because whenever ppl are under stress it can cause super sensitivity. That can worsen perception of sound/light.

Thank you love. Last week was a good week where she had loads more energy and was even singing as the hyperacusis had settled down. This week has been difficult to say the least. We both had a little cry and decided that as long as it takes we are just going to accept it and go slow on this road back to recovery.

During this difficult time the people around me have been wonderful. I told Hannah she's so lucky to have people of all different faiths praying for her. The kindness has been really supportive.
