Hearing loss happening long after Meningitis

In 2015 at the age of 16 I discovered that I had moderate hearing loss (45 to 15 dB). In 2018 I found that my loss was now severe (100 to 80 dB across the frequency range). My GP thought this was due to meningitis in 2013. I have been tested by an NHS ENT specialist. He found a high level of meningitis antibodies in my blood so supporting the GP diagnosis. He has suggested BTE hearing aids. However I am concerned that my hearing seems to be continuing to deteriorate so many years after the meningitis and I may become profoundly deaf.

Is it possible for the damage to manifest itself so many years after the infection?
