Ears ringing

I was diagnosed with VM about a month ago. This is day 5 without pain killers. :) I still have mild headaches but they are manageable when I lay my head down. Has anyone experienced your ears ringing loudly after VM? Does this indicate anything or just another side effect?

It is an after effect. I had tinnitus after Bacterial Meningitis. It took some years to begin to lessen but it's not so bad now.

Hi, I remember suffering from ringing in the ears for a while post VM, and worrying that it would be a permanent thing. Fortunately, it’s completely gone now, and it’s no longer a problem. Hope it settles down for you soon, and wish you well with your continued recovery.

Thank you so much for both of your replies. I'm finding patience to be my biggest hurdle to overcome in recovery. I'm a 45 yo male that has never sat idle for long and I have much work to do. For those in a similar boat as mine, know that resting and healing is an accomplishment for the day.

It’s been 2 years since VM, and have had some strange after effects along the way. Ringing in the ears, numbness, pins and needles and so on.. Often these occured just when I thought I was almost getting back to ‘normal’. I also like a busy and active life, so has been testing at times. Listening to your body and positivity really helps! As time passes, you will look back and realise how far you’ve come.

I had VM in mid December. Brain fog, a thumping in my head in the evenings and some ear static were the few remnants that have lasted the longest. But, I can say that week by week they are diminishing.

Just reading your post reminded me that I felt more clear...although do detect some ear resonance.

Think I can say give it time, but do take good care. I sleep, rest, excercise and eat well. An afternoon cup if coffee seems to help too.

Pleased to hear you’re feeling better as time passes... Strangely, coffee has become a new friend of mine since VM! I find it can help with the headaches and brain fog

Interesting, I was diagnosed approx. one month ago with VM and my ears are ringing loudly after exertion. I found this forum searching for answers.

So I would say it is not uncommon but I can’t say why we have tinnitus.
