Hi. I’m from Denmark and I’m 17 years old. I’m writing to you because i have big health problem after a viral meningitis(I got a lot of medicine through my venes). When i wake up every morning my head gets hot and my hands and feets cold. And it feels like I have many disturbances in my head. Few minutes later i get very intense nausea and it’s like my hole body goes down - I can’t consencrate and I’m just getting more and more ill through the day. I never throw up but it’s very intense. It’s like there’s fog in my brain or very confused in a uncomfortable way. Also when I’m laying my head back it’s get activated.

I have tried almost everything: eye-training, a lot of natrual medicine that should help the brain, z-health (neurologist), physiotherapy, the doctors in Denmark and a lot more without results. They don’t what it is, but it feels like it comes from the brain.

Sorry for taking your time but I’m just a bit desperate because it’s so devastating.

So my question to you is: do you have an idea of what it could be and what i can do?

Sorry for my bad English, hope you understand.

Best Regards, Nikolaj.

Hej Nikolaj!

I’m 32 soon and I had viral meningitis in September, 2017. When you had your sickness? It takes long time untill you will be healty again. I’m still Not ok after vm and it’s about 3,5 month ago. Can not work more than 4 hours per day. Headache every morning, tired almost all the time but it takes about 6 month untill everything disapire. You have to be passion and just follow your body’s signs. Doktors is Denmark not really know anything about meningitis, and I’m so sorry of this. I’m living in Denmark also and sorry for my bad English, my mother language is Hungarian... however we can talk or in English or in danish.

When you had vm?

Best regards Maria

Øv... I’m so sorry... i can not imagine what can be, because I’m not a doctor but something what vm left behind... I think...

Many peoples advertised me during my sickness I have to be careful with concentration and tiredness or work or anything what disturbing me, because can left something behind for a lifetime in my brain. Doktors in Denmark means that VM it’s not dangerous and can not be long lasting but I think they don’t have to much experience in that. It can remain problems in your brain. I’m so sorry that I can not help because for me it’s pretty fresh this experience, I hope you will get answer soon from somewhere or best would be from a doktor.

I had been to the neurologist ambulatory to check my reaktions and everything’s it looks like I remained with balance problem and that it’s comig also from the brain... when I’m closing my eyes I can not hold the balanc, even if I’m staying with to legs on the floor.

Try to contact your doktor again, they have to find something... but I’m almost sure you was get some damage in your brain during VM.

The best for you! 🤗

Hello, You can find my daughter, Rosie S' Story, via the link on the forum stories from the home page.

We found that cranial massage worked wonders for her. Her job is working with horses on pretty much a daily basis and is very physically demanding.

It is rare for a story to be so positive and we have tried to let people know that this amazing complementary therapy worked for her. It helps release the spinal fluid which VM leaves a blockage for. Rosie is pretty much cured after around 10 sessions coupled with actupuncture, although found awesome relief after only one appointment. She is now free of all pain killers and antidepressants and feels right back to her old self.

We can only let you know what worked for her. It's not for all, but has now given amazing relief for many. It seems the success could be to do with the skill of the cranial osteopath you use. So it is important to find out the osteopaths credentials and experience in this specialised field particularly dealing with VM sufferers, if you can. (Not all osteopaths realise that this helps VM sufferers, it is often carried out on young babies with birthing problems). You need an osteopath and not a therapist who mearly has some training in cranial massage.

If you find you are getting the violent headaches and feeling lethargic and depressed after a few weeks, give this complementary therapy a go, it really could be worth it and save you being on prescribed drugs, along with months, years, of unnecessary suffering.

Kind wishes and best of luck

Hi! Are the doctors sure it was viral meningitis? Do they have evidence? I mean, did they find virus? 15 years ago, when I was 19 years old, I had acute meningitis and the doctors said it was viral. I have had a lot of symptoms ever since and recently I got to know that I've actually had chronic autoimmune meningitis all of these years, just more or less; in periods it has been VERY debilitating and in other periods less debilitating. So, they thought I was cured but I wasn't and I didn't recieve the right diagnosis until another doctor accidently found I had this autoimmune disease that in rare cases manifests as meningitis. Thus, my advice is to ask the doctors to check for those autoantibodies that you have in different autoimmune diseases that can attack the meninges, for example rheumatological diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, SLE and Sjögrens syndrome..

I hope my story can help anyone.

Treatment

In most cases, there is no specific treatment for viral meningitis. Most people who get viral meningitis completely recover on their own within 7 to 10 days. However, people with meningitis caused by certain viruses such as herpesvirus and influenza, will usually need and get better from treatment such as an antiviral medicine.

Antibiotics do not help viral infections, so they are not useful in the treatment of viral meningitis. However, antibiotics do fight bacteria, so they are very important when treating bacterial meningitis.

People who develop severe illness, or at risk for developing severe illness, such as babies, and people with weakened immune systems may need to be hospitalized.

praying for your speed recovery & may you find best treatment as soon as possible..

good luck

I can just tell you the experience that my husband had and what seemed to help. VM in the hospital for 1 week. He did not have all the symptoms that you have, but some. He got good relief by having crainal sacral message, this therapy helps the spinal fluid move freely, and may help you. It will take some time for you to feel normal, so dont loose heart, keep the faith! My very best to you.
