VM - An elevator of pain?

I am just curious, does anyone else that has suffered from Viral Meningitis feel like pain moves thru their body like an elevator? I came down with it in August starting with my head and then it was like it moved into my body. Now, as i STILL recover, I feel pain in a different part of my body every week. And it comes in waves. One week my neck, then my back, then my hips. Last friday it hit my legs like shooting pains up and down both of them. The pain brought me to my knees!! I had not hurt that bad since august. I couldnt stretch, i could barely walk. Eventually after medications, and trying to walk slowly thru it, it let up. It hit about three more times before moving back up. Went to my back, now its in my neck. I hoped this would eventually ease up but the pain is just as bad every week! Will it ever ease up? Does anyone else feel this way?

**just as a note, the center for disease information or CDC is or main illness information go to in the united states. Their info states that people with VM recover in 7-10 days. I wrote them an email regarding how incorrect this was, the suffering of those recovering, the lack of knowledge of our doctors who look to them and that they need to do more research and update their info. I actually received an email back that they were going to look into it. Baby steps at least right? ;)

Go to a neurologist and get tested for Small Fibre PolyNeuropathy - I have just been diagnosed with that this past year. I had VM May 14, 2017. SFPN was Dx after, however those symptoms were there before VM. It can be a "sock-like" effect of a variety of pains, from burning, to stabbing, to crushing, to numbness.

In addition I do have a "fire-like" pain that radiates throughout my spine since VM as well, and my arthritis and disk pain in my neck is most certainly negatively affected by the VM.

Given that VM is a condition that damages the central nervous system, I think (in my clearly non medical idea) that post-VM symptoms can and do aggravate my SFPN.

Good job with CDC. My MDs are skeptical of my post-VM syndrome symptoms as well. In fact my neurologist said the spinal symptoms I described are not even possible.

Good luck.
