We are being asked about Bexsero, the licensed vaccine against meningitis B, being made available privately.
Please be reassured that an announcement is being made by the vaccine company early next week and as soon as Meningitis Now have more information, we will share it with you.

Information I had read about has stated that there were already different vaccines for different age groups. Is this one for everyone or different age groups. I contacted bacterial meningitis in 2011.
Bexsero has been developed to give protection against meningococcal group B disease, the most common type of bacterial meningitis and septicaemia in the UK. It has been given a licensed for use in anyone older than 2months of age.
There are other types of meningitis that will not be prevented by this vaccine. For more information on meningitis vaccines, have a look at our webpages: meningitisnow.org/meningiti...
I live in the states. There is a increase of meningitis in our college students here recently and Princeton College has gotten the okay to use this vaccine and it looks like a second college out west. I have read about different vaccines for different age groups before this vaccine was available so does the new vaccine just work on the age group of college students. I contacted meningitis 2 years ago when I was 60 the bacterial kind so also is there different vaccines for different types of meningitis. Glad this site is up giving information on meningitis. Seems a like of information and communication on this subject in the United States.I would like to start a awareness site here. So much to find out and what is available to be found out.
The new MenB vaccine can be given to anyone over the age of 2 months e.g not just college students. This vaccine had not yet been issued a licence for use in the US and this would have to be done before it would be available for general use. As you are aware, it has been used in Princeton, but under special circumstances to try and stop the outbreak that has occurred there.
