After contracting TB Meningitis in the the brain, I will be on tablets for a year. Did in anyone on rifinah have any liver issues?

Liver level test was 251 Monday and will have blood tests weekly, as I feel fine the consultant has said to carry on with my prescription. I get tingly and twitch sensations near my liver area, does this mean anything bad?

Hello,

One of my 21 years old friend also contracted with tbm four months back. She went in coma right then. Then woke up and making slow recovery. She has stiffness in right arm and left leg so she can't walk her own, has bowel n bladder incontinence, missing periods, recognise people sometimes but can't some other times.

Please tell me did you also faced such situations and what we can do to help her to get well soon. I'm in real bad stress....:(

Hey Dina,

I'm a medical student but i just entered into school of meds so i am a newbie and know very less about meningitis/encephalitis as it is very rare and that's why i couldn't help my friend before. But one thing i know for sure is that tb meds like rifampicin, pyrazinamide, ethambutol, isoniazid (HREZ treatment in simple words) do effect liver badly. And that causes hepatitis in many cases. So you should for sure consider to go for a safe herbal liver vitalizer.

I have had a lot of liver problems as a result of various medications have had to takeI seem to be very easily affected when having to take strong painkillers. If your liver enzymes are elevated you will feel truly awful - I was unable to eat, drink and had constant itchy stomach and feet, cold sweats and shaking . If you do feel fine that is a very good sign.I now see a herbalist -as the poster above says there are many safe herbal liver tonics - milk thistle is the most common and can be purchased at health food shops .Ideally if you could see a qualified medicinal herbalist they would be able to treat your whole body. Also you could try juicing vegetables -lots veg are very good liver purifiers.
