I think its absolutely awful in all supported living places that the staff only think that they can take the tenants for a walk.

Or just walk tentants with special needs to the shop. They can do a lot more than that and should be supported with ironing or cooking every day or paying bills or employment forms or jobs or getting to work.

I must live with a good supported living company as I can do whatever I like with my support when I have my hours.

If your experience with your staff is poor, I suggest to speak to the manager. Tell them how you would like staff to support you. Good Luck.

In all the supported living places in Buckinghamshire all the staff have masses of issues and masses of problems too and especially in my place where I live all the people employed have massive of mental issues. I want to kind of see a lawyer about it but don't want to give them all my money.

Do you have a Citizens Advice local to you, contact them. Or the Council, state your Case. Adult Social Care also.

I cannot contact adult social care at all as I find that the social workers all have masses of issues in a very poor area in buckinghamshire.

There's no manager in my supported living places as they think it's a mental asylum leaving it unmanned and in almost the other supported living places in Buckinghamshire too.

That makes it tricky. I think there will be a manager somewhere who is employing the staff even if you don't see them. You should have some paperwork which should tell you the name of the care company and a contact number for the manager? Or a notice up somewhere? Or you could try asking the staff for these details?

I did this a very long time ago and the suppose to be manager doesn't do anthing at all who have heaps of issues and doesn't really remember at all.

Also if you have a social worker you could tell them about your concerns.

The social worker who is supposed to keep vulnerable adults and children safe has masses of issues too and thinks she can do her job. I don't think she can keep children safe in an extremely poor area.

I don't want to spend time for hours with people who have issues or mental issues telling me about my problems. I don't want support at all. The people who live there most are mental cases and have special needs which they think are mental. They get paid too much.

I agree...People with L.D are able to learn to do their repetitive daily tasks it will just take them longer..... Its ok if you can tell the staff what you want to do but what about the ones who have limited speech! I think the staff underestimate people with LD due to them not having enough understanding , training and possibly time allocated to them. (not always their fault)!

In none of the supported living places in Buckinghamshire can you ask the staff what you want to do. They get paid an absolutely fortune to just take a tenant for a walk.

Speak to your Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, the Council is probably funding this Support. The Support Staff should have a Case List of Needs, to do's & what they don't do.

No I don't think they can be bothered really but sit in the posh sitting room or just come into the place, sometimes I think even break into supported living so I think there should be a gate. Locked.

I agree, Sadly. They seem to only care about writing that they've been, or they waited 15mins, when they could actually Try & Support someone, talk about lazy & not making any effort. I would be keeping a Diary, literally Dates, Times, what they did or didn't do & Names. Make complaints Every single time. My adult Son currently lives independently & a Support Team, ladies 2hrs every day. They wait in Car & go after 15mins, they say he didn't want them or wanted to cancel. So I've complained, they are not entering when been asked to knock & they are leaving, meaning not handing over to me, that's called leaving him Unsafe, with No direction of what he could busy himself with now they are going. Sending him into Autistic Meltdowns. Then one of them is arguing her point to him, that he has Mental health, insisting she is right, he doesn't need or want to hear that, of course, why push it on him, supposed to be building his confidence, not knocking him. He's Agraphobic too you see. Grr makes my blood boil.

I made complaints when I first lived in the place as a very bright very little girl who has no mother as she died when she had children. It's just goes to the manager who has masses of issues and can't remember sometimes and doesn't sack her staff and I'm not allowed to sue them because apparently she was a special needs child.

All of the above are so sad to read. Unfortunately it is reality and goes on all the time. We have looked at various settings for our son and the one issue we have is staff/carers and management because none of them can or will not meet his needs in the future. More training and more pay needs to go to paid carers. Also some care agencies do not have checks/cqc.... so staff can do what they like. The paperwork is not enough. Strong management is needed and they need to be on site all the time.

I agree but I find all the places like this all over the UK. For example in Dorset and Bristol. Crewe. Bucks as said.

I must be so lucky. I live in Kent. My daughter is in supported living. If iwant her to do any activity I just speak to manager or if necessary MD of care provider and usually they agree.
