Funding for residential blind college for my son

My son is 19 and blind with other disabilities and social services have said they won't fund him going to a blind residential college what can I do to fight this at the moment he's just finished a 3yr independent living skills course in our local college with fulltime one 2 one support and social services suggested the blind residential college so we looked into it even travelled 3 hours there and again back to veiw the residential college which was perfect for my son and then to be told months later they ate not funding it , does anyone have any help or advice with dealing with this as I'm up for fighting this to get what my son needs to study whst he needs to follow through what he wants to achieve towards his career which is in computers Thankyou

Does your son have an EHCP?There should be a meeting to review his educational setting.

If this is an educational setting it needs to be in his EHCP. I think this may be education rather than social services issue. It could also be jointly funded.

IPSEA may be able you advice.

Yes, I agree with the other comment that this sounds like an education issue. If he has an EHCP you should ensure that the residential college for the blind is specified in that document. If necessary you could appeal to a SEN tribunal for this as we did for our son. IPSEA was a good starting point for us too.
