Hello

Does anyone have any knowledge/advice or experience in how to get a learning disability assessment for a 19 year old via the NHS?

Thank you 😊

Yes, you go to your Gp & ask for Referal for an Assessments LD & I would suggest writing down all you think your 19 year old is having difficulties with & any repetitions all the time, regularly. You'll need to remember from Baby years & up to now. When did they crawl, walk, talk etc. Sensory, likes dislikes, textures etc.Communication, balance, coordination. Good luck, they will ask what will a Diagnosis mean to you too. It opens up Doors for Support.

SEND are needed for in Education help, Support, they are for up to 25 year old. Schools & Colleges, you need to ask for your 19yr old to be referred to them. Good luck. CAAD or CAAS are who give Diagnosises for Autism (ASD, ASC)
