Hi everyone! My name is Annabelle and I am a volunteer at Mencap as an ‘Online Community Friend,’ meaning that I am here to support the online community on HealthUnlocked. To be more specific, this means that I will be here to read your posts, listen to you and offer my support, encouragement and acceptance.

As for a brief introduction to me, I’m 24, I spend most of my free time reading and I am a huge football fan. A member of my immediate family is autistic and I occasionally act as a carer to a very dear friend of mine who has a series of neuro-muscular disabilities — I’m no expert, but I do have a deep understanding of both the challenges and the joy in the world surrounding learning disability/disability more broadly.

I look forward to talking to you all and I hope my contribution (and all of yours too!) can help this safe space we have on HealthUnlocked to flourish! :)

Hi Annabellelily from someone who usually just reads other people's posts without posting. Don't know why but your introduction has made me realise I do have problems at the moment and I could do with advice from the community so I'm going to do a post....you're doing good already! Thanks for volunteering, you are v special

Thank you I’m so glad to hear that! Talking about your problems always helps, even if it only a little bit, so I think a post for some advice is a great idea! That’s what the community is here for :)
