Universal credit covid uplift

My son pays a monthly contribution towards his direct payment costs. He received to covid uplift to help during the pandemic. He was immediately reassessed for his care contribution and his monthly payment was increased taking the whole of the uplift away. What was the point of receiving it? Did this happen to everyone? Thanks

Wow that’s ridiculous! My son received the uplift but as his care is funded by the NHS rather than SS he doesn’t have to contribute towards his care. The whole system is so unfair.

Hi that is exactly what happened to my 21 yr old she had the extra then a monthly bill to pay it back !I have yesterday queried it with them again because her UC went back to what it was in oct but she has to pay 80 80 back in nov and 3 weeks in dec due they said to being in arrears

Wish they hadnt given it to her cos now she’s totally confused

Luckily (I think) my son was being assessed at the time so the new amount was the figure they worked from. I sent his statement as soon as it came out when he went back t the Pre pandemic amount and they’ve adjusted next months payment.I just can’t figure out the point of giving it to them when the whole idea was an extra payment to help during the pandemic 😡

I thought I read somewhere last year that they shouldn’t take it into account but can’t for the life of me find it. If anyone is good on Google give it a try maybe.
