Campaign to Protect the Benefits Minimum Income Guarantee to prevent Learning Disabled Adults being driven into poverty year on year

Learning Disabled Adults are being driven into poverty every year because Local Authorities are allowed to take their annual incremental DWP benefit increases away, because the increases are no longer protected by the Department of Health.

We therefore call on the UK Government to protect Learning Disabled Adults annual DWP benefit increases from Local Authorities being able to claim this increase, as part of Client Contributions.

We understand that this DWP increase is there to help with the increased cost of living for the coming year. However, Local Authorities are being allowed to claim this increase which is driving Learning Disabled Adults into poverty, on a year on year basis.

In order to rectify this, we call on the Government to insist that the Department of Health increases the Minimum Income Guarantee figures each year.

We also call on the Government to insist that the Department of Health rectifies this lapse, to the last time the Minimum Income Guarantee figures were protected, which we understand to be April 2017

Signed but I don’t fully understand the petition.I haven’t been able to share as itd be like talking to myself I have no friends on Facebook or Twitter.

I woud share it on nextdoor-(a local community based social network site better than/similar to Facebook),I use it a lot,but I don’t think they like petitions I think they can mute or ban you for them.

If anyone is on the LD site choiceforum be careful posting LD related or this LD petition link on there, they put my posts on full moderation cue for something similar and never told me why in order for me to know what I’ve done wrong,so I know not to do it again?

It’s hard knowing when something is allowed or not as every site has different rules.
