My brother is in care, he’s in receipt of benefits. He has EESA & PIP. He has to pay a contribution to his care and the rest is met by the local authority this comes out of his EESA. PIP is normally daily living & mobility, my brother only gets mobility as he’s in a care home for supported living so does not get the daily living as the local authority pay too.

I'm ready to live with your brother and take care of him.

My son is in supported living witth 2-4 carers/keyworkers who look after him 24hours - we usually provide cooked food for 3-4 days but otherwise he is happy there - just fussy about the food - I usually provide activities ipad, colouring books, felt tips and clothes etc He receives disability benefit - personal independent payment and help with rent - universal credit housing benefit

Hi speedin112 , so sorry to hear that the social worker hasn't been helpful.

I hope the following helps:

- Everyone who is assessed for care and support, should have a financial assessment.

- If your brother has a lot in savings, he may be asked to pay for some of his care

- The thresholds vary in different parts of the UK. You can read more about this here: moneyadviceservice.org.uk/e...

- So if your brother doesn't have any savings, and is living on only benefits, it would surprise me that you've been asked to pay towards his care

You can go to the charity, Sibs, for more information and advice (the UK charity for brothers and sisters of disabled people) - they have guides on finances, care needs assessments etc... click here: sibs.org.uk/support-for-adu...

You can also call the Learning Disability Helpline (from Mencap), or use their online contact form: mencap.org.uk/advice-and-su...
