Hi Greenroad, this is not the case, face masks are not compulsory and were not thought to be useful at the beginning of pandemic. We have just recently been advised to wear them on public transport and where social distancing might be too difficult I.e. some work situations and some shops/supermarkets. Wearing a face mask would NOT help to get rid of the virus, nor would it replace a vaccine.
One more time - if everyone wears a FFP2 or 3 mask for 2 months the virus would have nowhere to go other than the wildlife or lab it started from. It cannot live in the air or on surfaces for more than a few days.
P.S. Luckily, reasoning is beginning to prevail, even here in the UK, and like the Asian countries that use face masks as required ande have far fewer deaths, we will be made to wear them on public transport from June 15th. Yippee, we may yet get the numbers below the R value for ever.
Worried where you get your information from, you seem to know more than the WHO scientists. If it was as simple as that they would have informed us at the beginning of all of this, so it’s obviously not that simple.
No worries, the WHO got round to advising us all to wear masks eventually. The UK death rate is inexcusable because all the British had to do was respect other nations' experiences, and tell people to wear a mask when in public.
