Trying to stay positive during lockdown

Hello. I just wondered if anyone had ideas about staying positive during the lockdown? I am finding it very hard work. I feel like I can't complain, or share how I feel, as I know a lot of people are having a much worse time. I find not being able to get out, and away from family members, very hard. The idea of it carrying on for months longer fills me with dread. I am exercising and keeping busy. But I do have a sinking feeling. Any ideas welcome. Thanks

Hi Crazysquirel. Are you on your own or do you have family or friends near? I have my son with me and video my daughters every day. Its contact with people outside that makes this bearable. I like painting which absorbs hours and I've just taken up whittling. Sitting in the sun with a stick and knife whiles away a morning. You say you try to keep busy well maybe don't. Enjoy this weather. Sit in the garden and listen to the birds not traffic.

Hi crazysquirrel .

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. This is a really tough time. It's OK to complain. Others may or may not have it worse. But you 'holding back' your complaints, doesn't make things better for them. If anything - having a moan, letting off some steam, can help you. Squashing them down and saying 'Oh I have nothing to moan about' - tends to make things harder.

It's OK to feel down sometimes too. It's OK to feel all your feelings and go 'you know what, today is just a write off!!'. We're all going to have days like that. There will be other days where you feel a little more positive too.

I think one of the hardest things about this time is the uncertainty - not knowing when it will end or what things will look like when it does. But something we can focus on, is what we have achieved so far. Each day of lockdown that you get through, is a day closer to it ending. Each week that you keep yourself busy, remind yourself how well you've done for getting through that week.

What or who has helped you through other difficult times in your life?

Sending a huge hug and much solidarity.

Take care

Fx
