Emotional wellbeing in parent carers

I am researching emotional wellbeing in parents of a child with a learning and/or developmental disability (i.e. autism), aged between 2 - 11 years old. I want to understand how parent carers look after themselves despite the added pressures and stressors they experience. I hope that the research will help influence services and support available to parents as well as raising awareness. I also strongly believe in bringing the voice of parent carers to research.

If you would be willing to be interviewed for up to an hour in central London (I will cover reasonable travel costs) please contact me via affinityhub.uk website. Further information on the research is here: affinityhub.uk/8/research.

Many thanks.

Jo

Good luck with your research. It’s such an important topic. My son is 15 so I don’t qualify . Also, I’m not sure how many people here could make the time to travel to London? Would you offer a Skype or FaceTime interview instead. Also, will you publish your findings on here? I do hope so.

Best wishes TTT

Thanks for the good wishes. I appreciate the journey may be difficult for some but I felt, ethically, it’s better to speak face to face. The interviews are being held at Mencap head office. As I mentioned I can cover the cost of travel.

I will definitely be sharing the findings widely and would happily do so on here too. I really want this to be useful to parent carers in their everyday life.

Many thanks

Jo
