I am not n Dorset but I’d be interested to know how you do this as I think it might be the only way to support my daughter here in york

Wishing you all the very best for the future - you might find this of interest - bbc.com/news/disability-664...

It's a model that sounds fantastic, and I wish I had the energy to do something similar where we are in North Somerset for my two sons to share with others.

Keep us all posted!

I am also keen in hearing how this all goes as we are interested in doing the same in the future in Wiltshire. Can you keep us updated? The news item suggested by FragileXmum is very inspiring. All the best with the project.

Hi, can you tell me where in Dorset you are? I’m down in south Somerset very close to the Dorset border.

Thanks

Hi everyone

Thanks to you all for your messages of support. We are purchasing a 4/5 bed in either Weymouth or Dorchester. We dont envisage this being available for a year for anyone to move into to share, but we do want our YP to be able to share it, so if you might be interested, please PM me.

Great idea!!! I've just been reading about the Surrey Case, where called Simon. They approach their Local Council with a proposal of getting the Council to buy a plot of Land, which they knew was coming up for Sale, that would be able to build on. The Charity called Simon, raised £250,000 & gave this to the Council. They built a home for Learning Disabilities, Severely Disabled I believe. The way they promoted the concept to the Council, was that it was more Coproductive than out of Area placements, that Caregivers, Family etc found extremely hard to get to, especially as we age & who then will be looking after our LD person/s. It did take alot of energy , time etc, but they did get the Council to do it.

Wouldn't that be good to know our young people could be catered for properly and give us peace of mind.
