I am seeing my doctor tomorrow and will try and get some meds for my transient tremors and jerking awake symptoms. I am thinking something like Clonazepam or Lorazepam which works on the CNS.

WHat meds if any do you get and do they work?

Hello again,

I don't take any medication for my CFS/M.E, specifically.

I have other conditions (both physical and mental) for which I take meds, however, I choose not to take any painkillers (for various reasons).

I read recently that some medication can cause or exacerbate tremors (such as some SSRI/SNRI antidepressants, some antipsychotics and even some anti-nausea meds).

Sadly, I can't find much information about drug-induced tremors from UK sources. However, you can read about it for yourself if you type 'which medication causes tremor?' into a search engine (as I did).

Hi again. I am on an antipsychotic called aripiprazole 20mg a night for bipolar. However, I am pretty sure this is ME causing the symptoms. I might stop taking this medication for a few weeks and see if the symptoms get better.

In that case, I should add that nobody should stop taking any medication unless it's done carefully and under medical supervision (for information purposes, in case anyone might decide to try it- I'm not saying you would do something like that).

As I've mentioned previously, my tremor pre-dates my CFS/M.E symptoms by a few years and hasn't responded to a beta-blocker (propranolol, which I take for chronic migraines).

Is your tremor happening all the time 24/7 or does it settle down and go away sometimes? Mine is not 24/7 but gets worse when I try and sleep for some bizarre reason.

As far as I know, my tremor happens 24/7 and has never responded to medication or lifestyle changes.

I've had it for over a decade.

None of the medical professionals I've mentioned it to seem bothered (including a neurologist and several other consultants from various specialities), so I've stopped bringing it up.

I've adapted to it as best I can (e.g by using a spoon to eat, instead of a fork.)

As I've mentioned previously, I have regular bloods done and I already take meds for autoimmune issues

There is no specific medication for ME / CFS only for particular symptoms. I checked on the ME Association website and they had some information about this. It is called myoclonus. You will have seen your GP by now so I hope they were helpful. Sometimes I take medical articles when I go to see my GP as they are not always well informed about ME.
